This Saturday (11th July), all young and feisty head to the Mtandao Festival taking place at Impala Grounds along Ngong’ road.
The event will bring together the social media community from their shadowy presence via smartphones to real life; mingling with both supporters and haters without the comfort of hideous avatars. Apart from this, the festival will bring together entertainers, caterers and the craft industry with lots of knitwear, kikoy fashion, kanga creations and anything the fashion creators deem fit for the season.
Watch out too for the heart of-the-party: Jumia Travel, in collaboration with Magnum and Date-Me-Kenya (an online speed dating site) will be throwing rous to all bold enough to step out and seek out cupid along the slopes of Ngong’ Hills. Activities in the speed-dating tent will include spin-wheel gaming, photo booth and the general aura and camaraderie that makes up the perfect-match-made-outdoors kind of environment.
One more interesting aspect of the event will definitely have to be the registration process at the entrance. Once you have your ticket stamped, an automatic message will be sent to all your social media accounts for an update of your location and event. The code, “Niko Hapa” will allow attendees to upload photos and posts as well as interact online with those at the noon to mid-night revelry.
However, it’s not all party and play, the organizers are promising to make this a potential platform for business ideas to hatch, incubate and hopefully flourish long after the curtains come down; “it’s an ideal place to meet potential business partners or employer outside the anxiety-laden walls of an interview room” said Darrel who is part of the organizing committee.
